Handball Goalkeeper News — Week to 6 July 2026
A quiet week for indoor club goalkeepers with pre-season only just starting, but a strong one on the sand: Moritz Ebert and Patricia Encinas Guardado were named the best goalkeepers at the Beach Handball World Championship.

Most of Europe's top keepers are between seasons right now, so there's no league or transfer news to report this week. The action came from Croatia instead, where the Beach Handball World Championship wrapped up with two goalkeepers taking the individual honours.
Standout performances
Germany's Moritz Ebert was named Best Goalkeeper in the men's competition after his side beat Brazil 2-0 in the final to complete a "triple crown" — world, European and World Games titles all held at once. Argentina took bronze.
On the women's side, Spain's Patricia Encinas Guardado picked up the same award, and it's becoming something of a habit: this is her third World Championship in a row with the honour, after 2022 and 2024. Argentina won the women's title, beating Denmark in a shoot-out, and completed their own triple crown in the process.

Transfers
Nothing new on the goalkeeper front this week. The big moves — Nielsen to Veszprém, Hernández to Barça, Palicka to Füchse Berlin, Milosavljev to Kielce — were all confirmed last week, and the market has gone quiet since.
Injuries & returns
No confirmed goalkeeper injuries or return dates this week.
What's next
Keep an eye out for the Men's 20 EHF EURO, running 8 to 19 July in Cluj-Napoca and Turda, Romania. It's usually a good early look at the next generation of European goalkeepers before they start turning up in senior squads.
