After a couple of quiet weeks with the clubs between seasons, the goalkeeper market moved this week. One switch at Wisła Płock set off a small chain of moves, and there was plenty for the keepers to prove at the Men's 20 EHF EURO, which threw off in Romania.

Transfers

The main story is a goalkeeper reshuffle at Orlen Wisła Płock. The Polish side have brought in Slovenia international Miljan Vujović to take over between the posts, after their big-money signing Torbjørn Bergerud didn't settle as they'd hoped. Vujović had been expected to sign for Slovan Ljubljana and work under national team coach Uroš Zorman, but Wisła stepped in and changed his summer. The former Stuttgart, Celje and Gorenje keeper is still only 25, so this is a real chance for him to lead a Champions League club.

That left Bergerud looking for a new home, and he found one quickly. Danish club Fredericia announced on Friday that the Norway international is joining with immediate effect on a deal running to 2029. It's a homecoming of sorts: the 31-year-old knows the Danish league well from his GOG days, before his moves to Flensburg, Kolstad and then Płock. He had also been linked with Füchse Berlin, so Fredericia will be pleased to have won the race. For a club pushing to settle near the top in Denmark, an experienced keeper who has played on the biggest European nights is a smart addition.

One to watch

The Men's 20 EHF EURO 2026 is under way in Cluj-Napoca and Turda, running from 8 to 19 July, with 24 nations split into six groups. The preliminary round played out over the first few days, and the top two from each group go through to the main round. It's the best early look you'll get at the next wave of European goalkeepers, several of whom will be pushing for senior squads before long. Spain start as defending champions, with Denmark, Portugal, Germany and hosts Romania all in the mix.

If you coach or follow young keepers, it's worth watching how they handle the step up in tempo and pressure at this level. That jump is often where a promising talent turns into a reliable one.
